Additional contact methods: Twitter: twitter.com IM: Ask One of the questions I get quite often is how do you give up bread on the Atkins Diet, and my point is you don’t have have to. I learned this bread from Book, my Atkins Diet Drill Sergeant about 4 years ago. It is perhaps more English Muffin than bread or bun tasting, but it is good tasting. It’s tastes like a course ground wheat muffin, perfect for a sausage or egg. Book’s Flax Bread: 1 TBS Butter 1 Large Egg 2 TBS Flax Meal (Golden Flax if possible) 1/2 tsp Baking Powder Soften butter. Mix all ingredients together. Microwave for 2 minutes. Makes 2 Servings. Thanks so very much for this recipe. I make this flax bread often to prepare sandwiches. I have not missed the regular whole wheat bread since I came across your video. I would like to try making a flax pizza crust with this recipe. I hope it works. Have you ever given it a try?

Hi! :) started atkins today and i was just wondering is how much of this can be eaten daily on induction?! thanks!

bowulf @ 4:50 pm #

@emiholo Starting on Induction you can eat half of it – Dr. A allowed 1 TBS of flax. If it agrees with you can eat the whole thing after a week of losing.

Do you know how to make low carb bread with a regular bread machine?

bowulf @ 8:19 pm #

@jvarela965 There are a number of recipes at lowcarbfriends recipe forums for bread machines. Not having one, I can’t validate for them.

2 mins in the micro… wouldn’t that oxidize the cholesterol in the yolk?

bowulf @ 4:50 pm #

@Viewtiful22 No. The cooking effect from the microwave is no different in essence than cooking the egg on a frying pan,

kackleful @ 11:02 pm #

Hi Kent,love all your video’s,i’m unsure about wether i should be counting Calories or not,have just started the Atkin’s diet,can you please let me know,thank you.

kackleful @ 11:06 pm #

@bowulf Hi Kent,could you please tell me if i’m supposed to be counting calories as well,thank you.

@kackleful Not on Induction and possibly never — check out my video “should I count calories on Induction?” video,

Can you do this in the oven? I don’t use a microwave. What would be the temp settings and time?

bowulf @ 2:24 pm #

@anurre5 I am sure you could in muffin tins, and the temp would be 350 or 375. However, the length I have no clue. “Until done” would be my only guess. I have only ever used a microwave with the recipe.

anurre5 @ 2:26 pm #

@Viewtiful22 I think you may be right. I heard eggs can be oxidized when cooked. Particularly microwaves seem to take away way more nutrients. Not to mention other health risks with carcinogens. I think this could easily be done with an oven.

anurre5 @ 2:37 pm #

@bowulf Thanks!

can u use this for the induction phase?

bowulf @ 11:31 pm #

@aliciamichael Starting out you can have one serving (half recipe) on Induction. Dr. Atkins wrote you can have 1 TBS of flax meal for regularity, but he did not say you had to take it as a supplement. So you can have it in the bread form.

I tried this, but had no golden flax, but I had cold milled flax and it worked great I thought. A little side of cream cheese with SF strawberry jam, and it was gooood! I also used cinnamon in the recipe

bowulf @ 8:42 pm #

@topnotchjanitor Sounds like almost a strawberry/cream cheese sweet roll…

diddy150 @ 2:27 pm #

I didn’t use golden flax it came out a little dark but I added some whiped cream it was good. It’s a good brakefast
